moving day at the nation's capital. hundreds of representatives are taking part in a post election truidation. they are -- tradition. they are switching office space and taxpayers are picking up the bill for the moving stations. >> reporter: the u.s. house floor is minute tonight, congress running home for a lung weekend. behind the scenes we learned 200 u.s. house members are swapping office space. in some cases moves have to be made. another senior member of congress says she is moving for another prettier view and staffers say some want offices offices for more stattier. this could be costing taxpayer money. there are 6,000 pieces of furniture and when members move, the furniture gets moved with them, lot of money and man power spent on this office shifting. it will cost $600,000 this month ago. >> one wimbledoners if it is necessary -- wonders if it is necessary. their money is being spent so a congressman can move down the hall to make him feel better about his position. >> reporter: u.s. house leaders stage a lottery contest to divvy out office choice and members of congress
